About Key Largo
Key Largo is the largest island of the Florida Keys, as well as the first one in the chain of the keys. There’s many coral reefs right outside its’ beaches and for those of you that don’t know, it’s the most tropical area of Florida along with Key West, Islamorada, and the other surrounding islands off the highway.
How Do I Get There?
From the mainland of Florida, Miami, any of the aiports on the east coast, you can drive down US HIghway 1 and you will hit Key Largo. It takes about 1 hour from Miami drive. There’s not a major airport although Key West does have one if you feel road-trippish to go there first and drive your way up north.
What is There to Do?
This tropical island calls for beaching, scuba diving, swimming, and drinking lots of cocktails. The Everglades National Park is there to visit. There’s a lot of bird-watching and kayaking. Multiple art galleries to look through as well! What else can I say, hotels, resorts, restaurants, bars, it has it all to enjoy in an island. The main chain stores and festivals are more located in Key West or Miami so you’re in between both destinations to take a nice car ride to.
Climate and When to Come Visit
Key Largo has great weather all year round. However, as far as Miami and those surrounding areas, winter time – December through March – is most expensive.
The cheaper time to go is July through October when hurricanes are more probable and it’s more humid.
