I’ve come across pictures of bioluminescent bays the past few months and finally wanted to put some pictures up. They are bays that have living bacteria in them (half-animal, half-plant) which glow a blue light in the water when they are touched.

The spots that are known to find these bioluminescent bays are:

Fajardo, Brazil

Puerto Mosquito, Puerto Rico

Las Croabas, Puerto Rico

La Parguera, Puerto Rico

Cairns, Australia

Gippsland Lakes, Australia

Manasuquan Beach, New Jersey, USA

Mission Bay, California

Torrey Pines Beach, California

Cortez, Florida

Luminous Lagoon, Jamaica

Halong Bay, Vietnam

Bali, Indonesia

Ton Sai, Thailand

Toyama Bay, Japan

Zeeburgee, Belgium

Norfolk, UK

Reethi Beach, Maldives
