It’s been a week since I returned from Niagara Falls and I still can’t get over how beautiful it was. Am I insane to say it was beautiful x10000? There’s no exact word for it unless you see it in real life and I’m not about to spit out each one in the dictionary.
On my two day tour of Niagara Falls, I saved the best known excursion for last – the Maid of the Mist. This is the acitvity everyone usually hears about and it was worth It! Since I went as part of a bus tour, I paid $20 to go on the tour from the Canadian side. It’s about $15.50/17 on the US side depending if you get a discount online and bring your ticket with you. The boat goes the same way, the difference is Canadian currency is higher.
The boat ride on the Maid of the Mist was exceptional. You can fit 100 or so people, there’s two floors with two decks and you get red ponchos. (Blue if you go from the American side) they come with hoods and are big enough, I kept my purse under my poncho the whole time.
The ride is about 15-20 minutes long. You first come close to the Falls on the Usa side – very close! Then you go to the Canadian side, called the Horseshoe Falls. There, you linger even closer to the falls, in all of the mist, and you get super wet! Tons of seagulls live there and my hand got pooped on, which did send me good luck a few days later!
The boat ride is completely calm and not rocky. It’s so breath-taking and meditative in a way. I would have stayed staring at the Falls forever.
Again, the Maid of the Mist was definitely a must do and wait until you hear about another excursion from the USA side later on in the blog.
