For the first time ever, I am proud to announce that I am participating in the annual travel blogger charitable event Passports with Purpose! This is the event’s 7th year of collaboration within travel bloggers to give back to the world. What’s travel without helping the places we visit or have yet to visit?

This year, Passports with Purpose is sending 100% of the proceeds towards Honduras, the second poorest country in Central America. In partnership with Sustainable Harvest International, we will help provide a better standard of living for the Honduran families. Sustainable Harvest International helps families grow their own food (the land in Honduras is not the friendliest for its’ own resources) and protect their ecosystem while doing so. For every $5,000 that is raised, a family can be helped for 5 years.
Honduras has a special place in my heart as I visited last year and saw first hand the poor conditions the country is in. I did not know first hand just how bad the people have it, and tourism is not on a rise there either.

The Way Passports with Purpose Works
How do we get proceeds to help out another country? Basically, the travel bloggers work with sponsors to provide a travel prize. You, the audience or “donor” as you may see referenced, donate $10 at a time for 1 entry into the running to win a prize of your choice. Travel prizes include trips, hotel stays, travel gear, gift certificates and more. The deadline is December 17, 2014 at 11:59pm.
Travel Prizes To Win!
$100 Gift Certificate with VI Is Paradise
VI Is Paradise is a tour and excursion company based in St. Thomas. They offer activities in both the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands, running their own excursions and working with other local businesses. The company helps formulate a package, or a single excursion – up to you and you have $100 to spend towards it! VI Is Paradise also participates in Carnival throughout the islands.
The best feature of their tour company is “Pay As You Go”. For almost all tour companies, there is a cancellation fee or you lose all your money if you want to change something last minute. With VI Is Paradise, you can change your mind at any second on an activity and you won’t be charged extra.
I had the pleasure of sitting down with the CEO of VI Is Paradise during my trip to St. Thomas in November – Jose – Alomar – here we are!
2 Night Stay at the Marriott Courtyard Jacksonville Mayo Clinic & Beaches
I am also proud to present the travel prize of a 2 night stay at the Marriott Courtyard Jacksonville Mayo Clinic & Beaches located in Florida.
Marriott Courtyard Jacksonville Mayo Clinic & Beaches is located on the grounds of the Mayo Clinic less than 5 miles to Jacksonville Beach! Be just a few minutes away from the beach, sun, and fun.

There is a free shuttle around the grounds of the Mayo Clinic and you can also explore the Naval Station Mayport or the Players Championship for golf nearby. No need to pay for WIFI as it is free. If you prefer a pool, there is an outdoor pool on the premises to enjoy . The main highlight is the Bistro where the motto is Eat.Drink.Connect. all day or night.

These are all great prizes, but besides donating for the purpose of winning one, you’ll most importantly be helping the people of Honduras. Passports with Purpose always tries to help those in poverty and most in need, so stay tuned to hear how much we raise and the winners after December 17th!
