Montauk is the end of the end of Long Island. It is a cozy and lively beach town which brings in visitors year-round. Due to its location at the end of the island, you can find beaches north, south, west, and east.
If you are not staying at a hotel right on the beach, most travelers wonder where they should go. Parking is a concern as most parking is either right in town and metered, or it is reserved to the hotel guests.
Kirk Beach is your answer! It is walkable to town, near the row of resorts/hotels, and offers a free parking lot. I have been there twice already and what I do know is that you must arrive early on a sunny day. Parking fills up although people come and go throughout the day. Locals do not spend all day at the beach everyday – they have other activities to tend to. Most of the time it is visitors who arrive early and do not leave until late.
Kirk Beach allows bonfires on the beach from 5pm on also, so consider that as an alternative time to arrive.
From Kirk, you can walk into town easily without needing to change your parking spot. You can grab food and drinks while strolling through the streets and returning back to the sandy oasis.
