If you’re visiting Portland, Oregon make sure to visit the downtown area at least once. Oregon holds much more to explore than the capital city, but that doesn’t mean you should miss out on the city fun.

When you’re there sight-seeing, take a walk over to the waterfront at Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Located along the Willamette River, this park stretches for about 40 acres and offers quite the view.

At this waterfront, you can join the other walkers, joggers, runners, and bikers. Portland is huge as a biking city and if you stay at the Crowne Plaza across the bridge, bike rentals are free when you use Booking.com!

Other activities off this waterfront involve skateboarding, basketball, and having a lunch. Watch out though – peak hours are from 11am to 1pm for outdoor meals.

During holidays and special events, you can enjoy fireworks shows. Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park is also home to the Waterfront Blues Festival, Oregon Brewers Festival, Gay/Lesbian Pride Festival, and The Bite of Oregon Festival.
