If you are coming to Anguilla for a day trip (like I did) or staying for a longer trip, you will probably be curious as to which beaches are the best. Look no further, I’ve done the work for you right here. Take a quick read and choose from one of these three best beaches in Anguilla:

Sandy Ground

Sandy Ground is personally my #1 recommended beach. Sandy Ground makes all the top lists for Anguilla and it’s no surprise why. It is a quick 15 minute cab ride from the ferry at Blowing Point. The beach is cove shaped with coral reefs along the rock edges at both ends.

Sandy Ground is also the busiest beach of them all. If you are looking for nightlife, or to meet others in the day, head here. There are five beach bars and many of them get the music pumping and the drinks pouring. Thursday nights are the busiest. Boats dock in the ocean off shore, but do not worry, many remain anchored and most days there is not that much movement unless there is a party on the boat. The water remains calm and is perfect for sun bathing or snorkeling.

My taxi driver tried to get me to go to Shoal Bay first but I insisted on Sandy Ground. It is about a 30 minute cab ride from the ferry terminal, but the ride is worth it as you get to see the local villages of the island on the way to this beach on the North shore.

Shoal Bay is the biggest beach in Anguilla – 2 miles long and it has been named as one of the world’s best beaches by many magazines. Another fantastic coral reef with snorkeling awaits you.

There are about three open air beach bars, therefore it is less busy than Sandy Ground. No boats dock in the ocean here which makes a difference for photos and space.

This beach is one of the more romantic beaches in Anguilla. It is located on the south shore of Anguilla and is adjacent to Blowing Point Terminal. You will arrive there in less than 10 minutes.

The beach is long and wide. It is quiet – come here if you want more privacy and intimate moments. This is not the beach to go to if you are looking for beach bars although one of the world’s best beach bars is located here as well – The Dune Preserve. It is owned by the famous reggae singer and songwriter – Bankie Banx- who performs regularly.

The famous CuisinArt Resort & Spa is located here if you have a budget of $500 per night to spend.

Do not forget, Anguilla has a total of 33 beaches. These are the top three as per myself and many others who agree this is an accurate list.

Which beach did you choose to visit in Anguilla? How would you rank these three beaches?
