Even on one of the best islands in Turks and Caicos, it rains.
If you are looking for activities to do while you wait for the sun to come back, here are some to keep you busy:
Take a Tour of Conch Farm
If you were not aware of a conch farm, Caicos Conch Farm is located 10 minutes away from Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos. The entire tour is about 30 minutes and part of it is indoors. You will learn about the lifestyle and different stages of conch while you are there as well as harvesting. Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for children.
Island Fish Fry
If you are stuck in rain on a Thursday night, head to Island Fish Fry at Bight Children’s Park. Grab dinner out at one of the vendors, catch performances, and maybe you will even end up dancing in the rain with other guests. The islands’ fast food is always the best party in town weekly. Hours are 530pm-930pm.
Book a Spa Day
For relaxation indoors and to obtain a treatment you cannot give yourself, book a massage or spa package at one of the resorts. Most highly recommended spas include those at Regent Palms, Studio 90 Degrees, and Spa Tropique.
Conch Bar Caves
Rent a car and head to the caves, also referred to as Middle Caicos Caves. These are the only caves open to tourists on the island. It will be an all-day trip so be prepared to be gone for a long time and bring flashlights and snacks with you. Afterwards, head to the village of Conch Bar nearby. Entrance fee for a guided tour is $10-15. There are no set designated hours.
Shop in Provo
If you are staying near Providenciales, then head to one of the many shopping plazas in town. Don’t expect big malls, but outdoor streets combined with local shops and galleries. Grab local gelato, island made jewelry, and beachwear.
Some of the best spots to go to include Regent Village, Ports of Call, and Saltmills Plaza.
See a Movie
Rain is not anytime to go see one on the beach, but you can go to the movie theater at Digicel Cinema in Windsor Place.
Go to the Casino
Don’t you love that casinos are all indoors? Casablanca Casino has table games and 85 slot machines. The casino closes at 5am and has a bar inside.
Museum Day in Grand Turk
Make it a day to and at the museum when you visit Turks and Caicos National Museum. It is located on Grand Turk, which requires a short flight to get to. If you have the money to splurge, go for it.
